Top 10 of 2010

2010 was a crazy year. Not a great year but a crazy one and I have to say that I am glad that it is over. Isn't that awful.... thankful that a year has come and gone. I am looking forward to 2011. It is the year of change. I came across this great poster that will be my inspiration and way of living this upcoming year. If you like it you can follow this link to get to get a copy of your own that you can download and print.

Ok..... so to wrap up 2010 I thought that I would share with you my top 10 of 2010.... So here they are....

So I guess this year I did do a few more about myself - as I think that it's important for Parker to know a different side of me except just 'mom'. Lots of very talented ladies have inspired the above pages such as Tara Anderson, Emma Trout, Debee Campos, and a few were inspired by some digital layouts. I also guess that it's pretty obvious that my fav color is teal.....

Hope you all have a very happy new years! Stay tuned for Crop Suey's next challenge as the page I did will definitely be in my top 10 in 2011! Here's a sneak for you!

Happy New Years!

2 new pages

Hello, I hope you are all not too stressed with the big day approaching fast. We are taking it very low key. It's all about my son this year and that is what we are focusing on. I hate to say it but I am NOT in the mood this year for the holidays. Has been a sad time for me and just trying to focus on Parker. Not going to see any family (which I desperately need to see) until spring time as my parents live 7 hours away and with the weather.... lets just say I am grateful for skype.

I have had some time scrapping (instead of wrapping and getting ready for xmas - again not in the mood). So I do have two pages to share today.

The first I just love how it turned out. Was inspired by a page by the super talented Emma Trout. I just love all her layering and the different elements she uses. I have so many rubons that I have been trying to use up so this page I did use alot. The 'discover', key, clock, and border under the picture were all rubons I have had for a while now. Used some BG papers and elements and some other little elements that I have had FOREVER! (fern tags, ruler sticker, leaf stamps, title, photo corners) just love using stuff from my stash.

The next one I wanted to do some kind of hybrid with printing some word-art brushes on a piece of letter paper. Did the photo series and put a word on quote on that too. Got to use some scraps and some other little tidbits.

Happy holidays!

Ribbon Tape Tutorial and Ribbon Storage

If you haven't checked out my tutorial at Crop Suey here it is:
For my post I decided to do a little tutorial on fabric tape. I thought that since the lucky winner of this month's challenge will receive a huge selection of beautiful ribbon from May Arts that I would do a little tutorial on using your ribbon! I have been seeing so many beautiful fabric tape out there and have been having a hard time finding some in my local stores so I decided to try my hand at making my own. I am showing you a very super easy peasy method and I will link a few other great tutorials for a few other methods.

Supplies Needed:
* ribbon/fabric (dig in your left over stash as this is a great way to use them up)
* a Xyron sticker maker
* scissors
* bone folder (optional but it really helps)

Step 1: Cut strips of fabric or ribbon that will fit in your sticker maker (mine is the 1.5" wide)

Step 2: Place your ribbon/fabric strips into your Xyron and pull the sticker roll out and tear your fabric sticker out

Step 3: Using your bone folder or finger rub the sticker and peel the clear top sticker off

Step 4: Voila! Use it on your projects! Easy peasy!!

Here are a few links to a few different techniques

How do you all organize your ribbons? I know the lucky winner of this month's challenge will be finding herself (or himself) in a pickle as what to do with all that ribbon so I thought I would share how I organize mine (since I have soooo much!).

I have tried many different ways and this way works the best for me. Sorry picture isn't very pretty.

What you will need:
* some kind of rack - I bought mine at Dollarama so super cheap!
* binder rings
* safety pins
* ribbon
* big ziplock bag
* binder clip
* hair straightner or iron

Step 1: organize your ribbon by colour (if you want) and take them off the spool if they are on one.

Step 2: If the piece was shorter than 1' I put them in the ziplock bag and if it was longer I ironed it (using my hair straightner :) Note: for the ziplock bag just open the binder ring and loop on the handle of the binder clip and clip onto ziplock.

Step 3: If they are super long, fold in half a few times and use the safety pin to pin them together or just pin the end if it's not too long

Step 4: put all like colours on one binder ring and hang.

I really love this idea as all my ribbon are sorted by colour which help and they are not wrinkled and stay wrinkle free. And all my little bits and pieces go in the bag.

Hope you enjoyed this post and will be inspired to try one of these techniques and use them on an up-coming project *wink*.

Bye for now!! Happy Creating!

Now for the goodies! I was organizing (again) my scraproom as I tend to do this once a month as I have alot of stuff and like to see what I have and realized I have a MONSTER pile of Halloween goodies that I will never use so I thought I would put together a little RAK of my destash (extra goodies). I also had some Halloween pipe cleaners and decided to make some little Basic Grey inspried flowers using the pipe cleaners and vintage buttons and of course some bling!

up-close of my flowers and some cool flocked ribbon (12")

some stickers, scalloped titles, little diecuts

some scary rub-on letters and some little skulls. (or scary pirates as my 3year old calls them;)

So how do you get a chance to win this little kit? Well four things and each thing gives you 4 chances to win:
1. Follow my blog if you already don't;
2. Follow Crop Suey if you already don't:

hello *there*

Hello,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while but it has been a little crazy around here. So I have some news! I was accepted to be an artist at the Art Hive where I will be selling my goodies from hello *there*!

What is hello *there* you ask? Well my site is still under construction as I am working hard at getting stock made to go to the hive but essentially it's my new venture to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes! I am soooo EXCITED! I have been making stuff like mad to go into the Hive and will be posting pics soon. But for a looksee check out my blog hello *there* and click on Scrapbook Kits. Oh and did I mention that every penny that I make will go towards the walk? So excited!!

I just LOVE the work that Rebecca Sower does and she is constantly inspiring me and I just fell in love with a journal that she did named TELL. I emailed her to see if it would be ok to reproduce the birdcage for a kit that I wanted to make to sell on hello *there* and she said YES! So excited that one - she emailed me and two that I could recreate these little birdcages for my Be Free kit. Here is a look at the kit that I am selling for $20 (CAD) - but quick - I only have 3 kits (as I might just keep the fourth for myself).

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to stop by hello *there* to check out this great kit!

Have a great long weekend everyone!

I'm back on the computer!

So what an adventure it has been to get a new computer.... first we were told it was a video card on  our laptop so that means $600-700 so we went down again a week later to a town 1.5 hrs away to buy a new computer. We had it at the counter and was going to pay when the tech guy came and said why are we getting a new computer when it was just the harddrive - $90, so bought the harddrive but because we didn't leave the disk behind we had to load it ourselves... well that didn't work.... actually turned out it was the video card!!!! So hubby drove back down and bought the computer that we were going to buy just days before....... anyhoooo got a free bamboo tablet, and a free webcame. So not shabby.... think the monitor is bigger than my tv (hee hee).... so waiting to get photoshop back on......

have lots to share with you so make sure to check the next post!!!

Bye for now!
