Favourite Quote - Crop Suey Challenge

Hello, HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! I am so happy this week is over. It has been one CRAZY week. With a stressed out boss, Parker sugar's high/lows because of a growth spurt, stress at work, and still fighting a sinus infection I am SOOOOO happy it's Friday!

So with that being said it is also time for a new challenge over at Crop Suey! This challenge is about your favourite quote. I have many and couldn't decide on which one to use so I picked a pic of Parker and went with the quote that best suited the picture. I also wanted to use some new embellishments that I made on this page so this is what I came up with. Not sure if all the elements work with the picture but I like how it turned out.

The flower was so easy to make. I was inspired by Prima's flowers (see picture of blue flower) and thought that I could make my own since they are a little too expensive for my wallet. So I drew out three different sized flowers with thich petals (5 petals) cut them out and then rolled the petals to form the point. Then I used some dimensional foam stickers between each layer and punched a hole in the middle using my crop-o-dile. I had some stamens and taped some together and put them through the hole and adhered the back of the stamens to the flower. Used some stickles for some sparkle and that was it. Easy peasy!  Also made some more of the butterlies and love how they turned out. Got to use some old paper I had and lots of scraps.

So make sure to hop on over to Crop Suey and play along! You have until May 13th to play. Crop Suey has been working hard at finding some sponsors for some yummy prizes and everyone who plays gets a chance to win!

Have a great weekend!

Handmade goodies for a friend

I am warning you - these pictures are NOT the best! Grrr.... need to get a little set up as most times able to take pics are at night when Parker is sleeping.....

Parker and I am heading up north to visit my parents and to meet my new friend Lisa and her family. Lisa is an awesome mom to Thomas & Seth. Thomas - who is 3 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in August of 2009. We were connected by my step-dad in January and I am SOOO thankful to have her in my life! She gets it. Sorry honey but it's different. Lisa and I are so alike it's scary. We are both overthinkers and stress at every decision that we make in regards to our son's diabetes. It's been a tough ride but it's so nice to have her. So we are going to meet next week and I can't wait!!! She is also a scrapper but is very limited by her supplies as she too lives in a small town and the closest city doesn't offer very much. Poor thing is on dial-up so she doesn't even have the internet as a resource. So I have lots of stuff and thougth I would go through my stash and create a little box of goodies for her. I started by just tossing extra stuff in a pizza box. Then I decided to take it a step further and make her some cute little goodies from my huge pad of beautiful K&Company paper. I just love my new Martha Stewart punch so I punched her a bunch of butterflies out of the pattern paper along with some vintage sheet music and some patterened vellum from my scraps and packaged them in a little ziplock. Then I made the fabric flowers with some coordinating fabric and packaged them in a cute little package. Then tonight I used my new Martha Stewart butterfly stamps and stamped using some brown ink on the pattern paper and then cut them out. I then used some stickles and some pearls to bling it up a bit. Also used some stamens I had as antenae. Hope she likes it!

Stay tuned soon as you may have a chance to win some of these butterflies!

I will be taking a blogging break to go on my trip (10hr drive with a toddler by myself - should be interesting)... see you soon!
