Handmade goodies for a friend

I am warning you - these pictures are NOT the best! Grrr.... need to get a little set up as most times able to take pics are at night when Parker is sleeping.....

Parker and I am heading up north to visit my parents and to meet my new friend Lisa and her family. Lisa is an awesome mom to Thomas & Seth. Thomas - who is 3 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in August of 2009. We were connected by my step-dad in January and I am SOOO thankful to have her in my life! She gets it. Sorry honey but it's different. Lisa and I are so alike it's scary. We are both overthinkers and stress at every decision that we make in regards to our son's diabetes. It's been a tough ride but it's so nice to have her. So we are going to meet next week and I can't wait!!! She is also a scrapper but is very limited by her supplies as she too lives in a small town and the closest city doesn't offer very much. Poor thing is on dial-up so she doesn't even have the internet as a resource. So I have lots of stuff and thougth I would go through my stash and create a little box of goodies for her. I started by just tossing extra stuff in a pizza box. Then I decided to take it a step further and make her some cute little goodies from my huge pad of beautiful K&Company paper. I just love my new Martha Stewart punch so I punched her a bunch of butterflies out of the pattern paper along with some vintage sheet music and some patterened vellum from my scraps and packaged them in a little ziplock. Then I made the fabric flowers with some coordinating fabric and packaged them in a cute little package. Then tonight I used my new Martha Stewart butterfly stamps and stamped using some brown ink on the pattern paper and then cut them out. I then used some stickles and some pearls to bling it up a bit. Also used some stamens I had as antenae. Hope she likes it!

Stay tuned soon as you may have a chance to win some of these butterflies!

I will be taking a blogging break to go on my trip (10hr drive with a toddler by myself - should be interesting)... see you soon!

I hope you have a good trip, but I'm sure you will with meeting your friend. What a great goodie box too. She's going to have a ball going through it!

Be safe!
