Want a chance to get some goodies?

Mia, a very talented scrapper and a Crop Chick as well has entered a contest at Purple Cows for a chance to win some amazing prizes and she needs our help! If you go to her blog and then follow the instructions to vote for her (and leave a comment doing so) you can win some awesome RAK that she is giving to her supporters! Make sure to go over and help her out! Here are some of her goodies she is giving away.... I am drooling over these flowers!

It is VERY cold here today and we are still pretty sick! Parker has been home for the past three days but at least this time it's not affecting his sugar levels too much!

Keep warm!

Vintage Love

Ok... Here it is! My Vintage Love Page. So by posting this that means I didn't get the page call but that's ok.... I LOVE this page! The pictures are not the best as I had to take them at night.. Need to learn more about flash.. Maybe DH could teach me some tricks :)
I think what makes it special to me are all the little elements that I used from my grandmother's craft box I inherited when she passed. I handmade the paper roses and the hat pin. This picture is from 1951 and the picture (under my grandparents) is a picutre of a love poetry book that my grandmother started the year she was married (in 1944). The picture behind the title is also from her book. The leaves are vintage lace that I got from her box, along with the bits of costume jewelry in the roses. The lace and binding tape is also from her. I also used vintage music sheet and text paper in my 'quilted' pattern paper that I made. I also did do alot of distressing on this one.

Thanks for looking! We are all at home today sick... :( So I think movies and cuddling on the couch will be the plan for today!

amazing inspiration!

Among some blog hopping today I stumbled upon this beautiful blog called 'A Creative Mint'! You NEED, or should I say - MUST check it out! She puts together the most beautiful inspiring colour combinations that she will then create vignettes or photo collections with the colours and photograph them...... GORGEOUS!!!! So much inspiration! Here are some of her pictures....

I think one of my next projects will be based on one of her colour combos!

Crop Suey Challenge

Here it is! Crop Suey's first challenge is FRIENDSHIP! Make sure to hop on over to Crop Suey for more details but basically anything goes. Cards, jewelry, mixed media, ATC's, tags, layouts or anythings with this theme. You have two weeks to get your page up on either flickr or on the Crop Suey blog for your chance to win some fabulous BoBunny goodies!

As soon as I saw the challenge a few things jumped into my head... friendship pins, laces and facebook. And then Bree from Crop Suey challenged me to use 20 pins.... was a little challenging as I had to go digging to find some pins as I am also challenging myself to not buy anything until my 20 projects are done. Once I found the 20 pins I had fun creating these old school pins. What would friendship pins be without a pair of shoe laces to attach them to? So I used some laces on my page. Also wanted to try my hand at some canvas so I painted it with teal paint (my fav colour!). I am sooo loving these papers from K&Company and have used them on a couple of projects that I can't just share yet. By joining facebook in 2007 I have reconnected with so many friends that I thought I had lost forever. The pictures aren't the best but beside every picture it says: Friend (name), Met: (date met), Lost touch: (when we lost touch). I had lots of fun with this one.

Thanks for looking and make sure to go play over at Crop Suey!

Few projects and a sneak peak!

I have a few pictures to show you of one page (this is my first towards my 'Use Your Stash Challenge') and my bib necklace that I finally took pictures of. I have also included a sneak peak of a page I just finished (all old stash but won't count towards my 20 as I started it before the challenge).

The layout 'Come Play' is about how my son LOVES to play with his Grandpa (or Grandmas as he calls him). When we went up north in October my hubby got this shot of Parker on his Grandpa's tractor. I just love this picture of the two of them!

ALL old stash on this one! I actually even used stuff that I was going to give away as I didn't think I was going to use it. I did some stamping on this page (the border of cars/trucks/planes) on a border sticker that I have had for EVER! I mounted some ribbon on the back of the strip as well to give it a little dimension. I also stamped the stars on the half circle to mimic some Pink Paislee paper I saw and loved. I also used my Prima Bingo stamp on that paper to give it a vintage look. The ticket by the picture is Melissa Francis, the green circle with the alphabet is from the packaging from a stamp set I got in October. 'PLAY' is BG, the vintage border at the top left is from my score from Crop Suey when I won the vintage challenge last spring. Of course I had to use vintage sheet music for the stars and I hand cut the swirlies. The buttons are from BG as well. The 'come', letters, sweet sticker and the circle paper is from a 6x6 kit I bought from Dollarama years ago.

The bib necklace was lots of fun to do. I kept seeing them on etsy made from fabric and I wanted to make one out of paper for the Art Hive's fashion fallies but ran out of time to finish it. I used BG papers (sorry can't remember what papers) and some pearls from Dollarama.

And here's a sneak peak at my Page Maps page call entry. I can't post the page so I hope I won't be disqualified for posting this little snipet! This one is my absolute favourite page to date! So many vintage goodies from my grandma's craft box and even got a scan of her love poem book she wrote in 1944! I love it! So if I don't get picked I will post it.

Thanks for looking!

Use what you have challenge!

Ok.... I am not as brave as Bree but I will try to do 20 projects with items I have before I purchase more (which needs to be by the end of March as I have some new BG Page of the Months kits coming!)

This will be hard especially with CHA just around the corner and all the new cool products hitting the shelves soon! I figure I should tackle my other resolutions sooner rather than later!

I have a new page that I will post early this week and some sneak peaks to a project I am working on for the Page Maps page call that is due on the 15th!

If you are wanting to join Bree and myself to make x number of projects (this could be anything) before you buy more please leave me a comment! And keep checking in to make sure I am on target!

If you haven't already joined make sure to join Crop Suey's forum! It's a great place to meet other scrapping ladies and to be inspired by the many amazing projects in the gallery!

Just click here to join!
I better go make something if I am going to reach my goal!

2010 Resolutions

Happy New Years! Wow can you believe it's 2010?

Over at Scrap Tiffany her last challenge of the year was Resolutions. I would of love to have played but I am under the weather and running out of time, so instead I thought I would just do a post on my resolutions for 2010. I am HORRIBLE at keeping resolutions so this year instead of the usual (loose weight, be happier etc...) I thougth I would try some that were more scrap focused. So here are mine:

1. To get onto a design team. I would just LOVE to be on a team. One that has great challenges that get you to think outside the box, shows great techniques and has a great team of talented women (and men)!

2. To use my pazzle more! I got my Pazzle Inspiration a couple of years ago and I think I've used it 3 times! Sad - I know! It's such an awesome tool with soooo many possiblities. So my hubby said that he would like to have it out by the laptop and he would make something to house it (as it does take up alot of real estate!).
3. To meet and get to know other scrapping gals! This is sad but I don't have too many friends :( as we are pretty busy and I don't get out much! (pretty pathetic isn't it???) I would love to either start a scrap club or something that gets other crafty women together once a month to talk scrap, scrap and learn from each other! I need this! So this is going to be the hardest one for me this year :)

4. To use supplies that I have! I have soooo much! And need to use up those supplies before I buy more. I try to not get too wrapped up in what is 'in' as like all fads, they get 'out' too fast. So I would like to use my stash and go back to my way of using on each project ' something old, something new (as I always have something new), and try a new technique'.

5. Scrap, scrap and scrap!!!

What are your resolutions? I would love to hear them?

Here's to 2010 and reaching your resolutions!
