Good Night - OLW #54 Good

Here is a page I have been thinking about for a while now and it took One Little Word #54 - Good, to kick me in the butt to do it. I bought this great collage book a couple of months ago called Collage Unleashed by Traci Bautista and I have been wanting to do something with paper towels for a while now. So about a month ago I hand dyed some in blue for fun thinking of this page and and wanting a 'Starry Night by Van Gogh' feel to it. So after dabbling in some paint on the background cardstock I went and collaged with my gel medium the paper towel over the cardstock. Then did my stiches - again going for the Starry Night look.

The quote is from one of my son's favourite bedtime books. The little teddy bear on the moon is a pic of his little Bunny Bear that I mentioned in my journaling.

Sorry the pics are not great. It was late by the time I finished and to meet my deadline for OLW - they are the best I could do. This was different for me but lots of fun. I love that I found the sheet music for Twinkle Twinkle as that is the song we sing every night. This picture is of Parker when he was little. But as my journaling reads we have very few pics of him sleeping.

Thanks for looking.

Sun Kissed

Well it is starting to look like summer here in Haliburton and before we start getting new beach pictures I thought I should scrap one from last year - our first day at the beach. No new technique on this one but just some elements regarding beach and some stiching to look like waves and some rick-rack....Got to use a goodie from my Crop Suey package and some old sewing patterns. Also got to use some new spray paint I got at the Trash to Treasures yard sale last weekend. Loving the peek-a-boo papers! Will be doing this more I think.... Sun was hand cut and sequins were hand sewn.... Used my new Prima bingo stamp again on the flower and pattern tissue and used a few older items like the sand castle brad, papers and summer chipboard. Trying to use up old stock! Thanks fo looking ;)

Birthday layout

Finally got to do Parker's first birthday layout. We had a monkey theme for his party so I wanted to bring in some monkey's on the page. I had a garland that I made at his party so I thought it would be fun to do one on his page. Used Basic Grey's Lime Rickey papers from my page of the month kit. Colours were perfect. Not too happy with this one - would of used the blue as the main background but oh well..... Love that I finally got to use the life is good label with the monkey on it! Thanks for looking... Can't believe our little monkey will be two in just over a month!

The World is Yours

I think this is my favourite to date! I just love the colours and how it all came together! Plus it only took me one night from conception to finalization! Pages usually take me at least 2-3 nights! I had the idea in my head of what I wanted but everything just clicked! The papers are from Costco and are so beautiful!

I have wanted to do this page for a long time now ever since I saw Paula Kelly's layout 'The World is Yours' in the Fall 2008 edition of Canadian Scrapbooker. I have to admit that I did lift the title and the journaling but it just called out to me and I knew that these were the pictures that I would have to do... I just waited for the inspiration to actually make the page.

Once I found these papers, I knew the pallete so I went rummaging in my stash and came out with all the pieces. The little green piece with the animals is a back cover of an old kids book, the embellishments in the top right hand corner are from Dollarama, the frame is too but I covered it with the Costco paper and stamped it with one of my new Prima Bingo stamps. The butterfly is printed from the computer, the squirrel is from a vintage kids book, the fern is from a leaf pressing kit I got at the second Hand store a month ago, the green part of the flower is from a prima flower I got in my goodies bag from Crop Suey. I also stamped onto the page with the insert of the tape roll for my atg gun and some of my new distress crackle paint, and lots of vintage scraps, some images printed onto transparency and some stiching. I just love how the vintage paper peeks out from the distressed edge! I also stamped and stiched onto the foam letters.

Sorry the quality of the pics aren't great. Took them about 40 minutes ago and the ligth is dwindling.... and flash made it worst.

Thanks for stoping by!

Read to Me

I have finally played along over at Scrapjacked! This is an older page but it was a perfect fit! Yay! Wish me luck!
Original Post:
I just wanted to play some more with my homemade 'glimmer mists' and this was the perfect page for it. I took a piece of yellow cardstock and some negative space from a chipboard set of letters I had kept (i keep everything :) and created a mask with that. Then I found this beautiful illustration in one my many vintage kids books and had to use it - so magical. Then I found some great book related items such as an old library card and envelope and lots of vintage book pages. I had this cute little owl sticker that said something (can't remember what) so I moved the owl to the top of the sticker to hide the wording and used the little stickers to create my own embelli. I used a Melissa Francis stamp onto the vintage text and cut out for the flowery pieces, I rubbed-on some silver alpha's randomly on the bottom of the page. I used some October Afternoon scraps that I had from the Crop Suey kit and a doily sprayed with my own teal spray ink. Some teal ribbon, some Basic Grey alpha chipboard with red embroidery thread and that was it! Loved doing this one....I just LOVE having my own space!

Be Unique

I wanted to play with a few ideas in my head and these papers from a kit I got at Crop Suey were perfect! I just loved the little blue bird that stood out from all the others - so voila - the 'be unique' page came into play. So just needed a fun picture of my dear son (which wasn't very hard to find a silly pic). I had an old atlas I found at the lily-ann (fav second hand shop in town) and just played. I am not too happy with the 'stand out' as it looks like 'stan dout' by the way I stamped it .... oh well... imperfections make it more 'unique'.

Tried to have some details that were on the unique theme. So my thumb print, a barcode, and a owl stamp that I actually made (with inspiration from Hero Stamps) at a block printing crafty girls at the Art Hive put on by the fabulous Darby . Used up some old items like the photo corners, the unique metal embelli and some letter stickers that I covered with glitter.
The mushroom stamps were also in the Crop Suey kit. Just love those kits... must get more soon.

Thanks for looking!

So excited! Pretty cool news!

I checked my email just now to find an email from Becky Fleck from Page Maps.... Here it is:

Hi Stacy,

Congratulations, you are one of the two winners of the "Love Me Some New BasicGrey" contest on the PageMaps blog! The judges loved your "Time To Reflect" layout and all of the charming, vintage details. I thought the tattered edges of the page looked fantastic. Great job!

If you'll send me your mailing address, I'll get your prize package sent off to you.

Kudos once again and thank you for entering the contest!

So excited! Plus I forgot to mention who I have saved on my voice mail. An actual message from Melissa Francis from Melissa Francis HERSELF! I called to enquire about some wholesale and had to leave a message and she returned the call herself! Of course I had to listen to it again to make sure that she said 'Hi this is Melissa Francis from Melissa Francis...'. Holy Camolee!!!! So I saved it and told hubby to NOT erase it!

Check back soon as I have two new pages to post.

Thanks for looking :)
