So Exposed - Crop Suey Challenge

This was a tough challenge for me. Crop Suey's challenge is a good one - scrap a bad picture. It could be a blurry photo or a bad hair day. I have been working on my album and a big part of my life has been struggling with self-image issues. I know that I don't have a weight issue but in my mind I do. I have never loved my body and slowly I am starting to feel more comfortable with it. I couldn't find a blurry picture as we tend to delete those (bad habit of my photographer hubby). So I found a picture of myself from Costa Rica in 2006 that I thought I had hid but for some reason resurfaced so I had to do it.

and I got these super cute little roses to play with. I backed the rose with some pattern paper to add a little dimension to them.

Scrap Tiffany Blog Hop Winner!

Think the elements with the butterflies were my favorite, they are adorable! I like to use all my different beads i use for jewellery to make shaker boxes, ribbons from gifts and I LOVE using buttons (clothes, handmade, sticker)

Scrap Tiffany Blog Hop!

Scrap Tiffany's REcycle Blog Hop is finally here! I knew the instance I saw the post on Scrap Tiffany that this is one Blog Hop I HAD to take part. My middle name is 'REcycle!!!'

I always love coming up with neat little ways to recycle items into fabulous elements for my projects. If you happen to stop here first make sure to start your Blog Hop at ScrapTiffany.com and follow the links from there.

Ok... what did I do? Well I had some old scrap catalogues and some packaging that I had kept from Jenni Bowlin and Melissa Frances. So I just love the Jenni Bowlin catalogue as it was cute little pictures of all her fabulous bingo cards, journaling spots, samples of paper and they are all printed on cardstock! The Melissa Frances catalogue is a glossy one but still had lots of samples of all her beautiful papers. So on a good TV night (Vampire Diaries) I grabbed my catalogues, scissors, my ultimate favourite Martha Stewart butterfly punch, my circle and scalloped punches and I go to town. I punch, cut and punch some more. Then, when I have a little container full I create little embellishments for futur use. I try to colour cordinate them with either scraps of ribbon or other little elements that I keep (as I keep EVERYTHING!). I just love to put together little kits for futur projects with all items coordinating... So here are some samples....

House was made with a scrap square from catalogue and some corrugated cardboard painted white. Lots of stiches, some Jenni Bowlin pieces (HOME, tickets, journaling spot, two centre pattern papers).

The frames were made from corugated cardboard from a box and the little elements were all from Jenni Bowlin catalogue. Little paint, glitter and stiching with the machine...

These two pieces were made from the Jenni Bowlin catalogue (HOME, blue small journaling spots, the big black journaling spot, butterflies, and pattern paper on bottom element)

Every month I am so lucky to get the Basic Grey Page of the Month kit and I just love BG packaging. I always carefully take my buttons, brads or other elements out of package and keep the packaging for journaling tags, etc. To the Kioshi line is too cute. Used it on my last project for Crop Suey and thought I could use it to make a cute journaling block. So I cut out some of the details that had the text and then also used another package (same pattern) and cut them into different sizes for my next project. I glued them randomly and then stiched the grid over the scraps of paper. On the journaling spot I also used some punched out details from my Melissa Frances catalogue and some Jenni Bowlin pieces too.

Use Your Handwriting Challenge - Crop Suey #10

Crop Suey's 10th challenge is up and as usually it's a GREAT one! You must create a project using as much handwriting as possible. Just to let you know - I am not a fan of my own handwriting and avoid it on my pages. But this one was so much fun. I knew that I wanted to do a Dina Wakley style and use lots of layers over my handwriting. So I just went to town and wrote lots of things that have been bothering me lately on my pattern paper. Then I cut them into squares or scalloped it. Then used some paint dabbers (white) on them to mellow out the text a bit then used some teal (2 shades) around the edges of the papers to unify them. All the papers were from my Kioshi BG kit of the month from my local scrapbooking store The Craft Nook in Bracebridge, ON.

Also got to use the ribbon (not sure if that is what BG calls it) on the squares and the pipe cleaner flower. Then I used that flower as my inspiration to create another one (purple) out of pipe cleaners and buttons. I also painted on some buttons to tie the colours all together.

The picture was taken with my laptop camera and then I applied an artistic filter on it and blurred the background with the smudge tool.

My title is handwritten and then I painted over it and cut it out. Lots of fun!

2 new pages

I have two pages to share with you today. The first one is a page I did of my friend Lisa and I. We met in January and email (almost every day!). Our sons are close in age and were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes within a month of each other. It's so nice to have her in  my life as she just gets it. So this page was made using a kit that I had used to teach a class last year. Happy how it turned out.

The next page was a quicky. I wanted to play along at Scrap Tiffany and this week's challenge is to scraplift someones layout. I lifted Kerry Lynn Yeary's layout - 'Twue Wuv'. Used alot of BG Nook & Pantry Papers and a few scraps. This was a very fun layout to do. Of course when you're done you look at it and see things you would change but oh well - go with the flow!
