12 times a day

Here is another layout that I did of my son when he was 3months. It was a tough time for us as he was still not sleeping through the night and was feeding every 2 hours. I had a hard time with the colours on this page. Really wanted to use the milk tabs ..... oh well.... the mojo doesn't always flow! What can you do.
Because I like to use a new technique, something old from my stash and something new, here is what I used. New tech: I used a piece of bubble wrap and used it as a stamp on my paper. Something old: lots here - all the paper is old, I used my vintage milk tabs, lots of old buttons, the measuring tape I have had for years and my something new: well..... not much here.... The Love Bingo card I got a while back from LivingRoomFloor at great old Etsy as well as a Heidi Swapp transparent leaf, the letters (times) was a hybrid newbie from Peppermint Creative, and of course I love to have my dear son's name or initial somewhere on the page so I tore the Parker's out of the phone book and painted the edges as well... And as usual, I have used some Melissa Frances rubons of the wings. Love those rubons!

Two new pages - FINALLY!

I have finally been able to finish the Pumpkin Pie page that I started months ago. Then I was on a roll and did the Simply Perfect page. I have been itching to do a 'girly' page and this was the one!

For the Pumpkin Pie page I used alot of different products (Costco paper, Melissa Frances stickers, and so much more...) I like to try a new technique, use old product and something new on a page. So my something new was the paper and the felt (sorry can't remember who). The something old was the Melissa Frances stickers I had forever and the new technique was some photo editing tips I got from the Jessica Sprague book. Also used some flocking and did my own transfer from packing tape and some paper from an old Peter the Rabbit book.

For the Simply Perfect page I used alot of ephemera I got offline, tissue for the flowers and lots of lace from my grandmother's stash. Also used some old paper from that old Peter Rabbit book. It was fun to do this one as it has soooo many layers! Really like the 'cluttered' look!

Altered shoes

I made these shoes for the Art Hive's Fall Fallies Fashion Show which is being held this Saturday night (Sept 27th). The one pair were modge podged with vintage pages from a Ragedy Ann & Andy and a vintage romance book. They were then embellished with silk flowers and vintage buttons from my grandmother's stash.

The other pair were inspired by this great mixed media artist at Eclectic Visions of an Altered Journey blog who did a pair of childrens shoes with this technique using carpenters liquid nails and a heat gun. After getting my desired texture I then painted it with a shimmery blue and green paint then rub and buffed it with gold. The embellishments are old earings and feathers I found at our local second hand store. They look like snakes to me.

You Colour My World

This mini album was made for a class that I was teaching on making a mini album out of recycled materials. It was hard for me not to use any of my new products but I did make a rule that no product could be opened and only scrap paper could be used. The cover was made with an old fleece sweater I had that I dyed with acrylic paints. The paper underneath the cover picture is the wax paper I used to dye the shirt and buttons. His wings are part of the shirt as well that I put on a tin lid so that they would have shape. The stickers were just old ones I had. The bones of the album is made from flooring samples that were tossed out from our lumber yard. The ribbons were all scraps. The inside pages were all made with scraps as well. I did use an album that CD Muckosky has done as inspiration and did use some of her quotes on the inside tabs. Thanks for looking.

Party Hat

I made this party hat for the Art Hive's 'Be ONE with the Hive' celebration. I have been wanting to do some kind of mixed media collage style piece for a while. The paper on the hat and on the plate are from the receipt books we use at the Hive. These receipt books were for the old Welshes General Store (http://www.thearthive.com/) All the work bees are the current artist at the Hive. The artists on the banner are the founding members. I made the flowers out of tissue paper, kleenex, feathers and fibres. The little girl on the hat is actually my hubby's aunt. The paper on the wings and on the banner are from this old french poetry book that my grandmother treasured. My hubby took the picture that is inside the base of the cake stand. I made the stand out of a parfait glass and a plate that I decoupaged. I had so much fun making this! Thanks for looking!
